As a photojournalist, I have photographed all aspects of life. I've shot editorial, commercial work, portraits, weddings, and just about anything else. My 30 years of newspaper experience has made me have to think fast on my feet to get pictures that I think readers and clients deserve. Not a warmed over "guy and his stuff" shot but something that grabs you by the heart and demands your attention. I remember my first camera, a Nikkormat, I shot what I thought to be the most amazing photographs of clouds. I was sure no one had ever seen clouds quite like I had. In fact I sucked but I was so excited that I had no idea just how much I had to learn.
Many years and many mentors later I did become the photographer I'd hope to become and have kept a roof over my family's head and food on our table with one of the coolest and exciting jobs in the world. So maybe it's time to offer my services one on one to share my experience of how to see and anticipate moments to improve your photography. The digital world has made it easier for everyone to express themselves visually. Give me a shout if you want to get better at this amazing craft.
